Janet Smelley joined the Law Enforcement Academy Staff in January of 2001. She handles the office and administrative aspects of the Academy. Before working at the Academy, Janet worked 17 years at a Tuscaloosa manufacturing plant where she served as a Secretary in their sales department before working as a Quality Improvement Coordinator in the company’s employee training/quality program where emphasis was placed on Quality, Safety and Service. She has also had training and experience in team building/training. While her current position is her first with law enforcement, Janet has developed a deep sense of respect and admiration for those who choose law enforcement as a profession. Janet enjoys having the opportunity to work at the Academy, hoping her “behind the scenes” work, support and service is a benefit to those who serve our communities in law enforcement.
